Moose Landing Site Plan.

We’ve got a number of exciting updates to share as the Snake River Gateways campaign continues to move full-steam ahead this spring! Wondering what this outstanding initiative is helping to address? Click HERE for all the details.

Just two weeks ago, construction kicked off at Moose Landing. Park vegetation crews are actively collecting native plants within the construction area, allowing these important plants to be kept in the park nursery for replanting after construction is fully complete.

After this plant collection is finished, first up is the new pedestrian plaza. Construction crews will pour a fresh concrete pad and begin the initial installation of a number of interpretive elements there mid-summer. Engineers purposely implemented a phased approach to construction so that both the public and commercial boat operators could continuously utilize the parking area and existing boat launches for the majority of the summer. Later on in the season, a new boat ramp will go in and the landing area immediately upstream of the existing concrete boat launches will be freshly restored..

Stay tuned for additional public access details from Grand Teton National Park. In the meantime:

  • The goal of construction over the summer is to maintain river access in the active construction site.
  • Closures to a portion of the eastern employee parking area is expected Memorial Day through May 30.
  • River access at Moose Landing will close for the season on October 2, 2023.

In another exciting element of Snake River Gateways, the pouring of the new concrete boat ramp this past fall 2022, means that the majority of the Jackson Lake Dam (JLD) project is complete and the site is fully open to visitors! This past week, road signs at the repaved JLD parking area were installed and the remainder of the interpretive signage panels that will bring the site to life will be installed in the coming month or so.

It’s worth a trip out to see these exciting new improvements at Jackson Lake Dam and Pacific Creek this early summer. We’re grateful for how beautifully everything has turned out!
