Work is Underway Near Taggart Lake!
Current trail closures, work areas, and open routes near Taggart Lake.

With the 2026 summer season just around the corner, trail restoration is already underway on the Taggart Lake Trail. Crews have begun repairing heavily used sections of trail that have experienced years of erosion and wear.

This work is part of the Foundation and Grand Teton National Park's Reimagining Taggart Lake project, a long-term effort to renew one of Grand Teton's most beloved destinations. Improvements are focused on creating a smoother, wider, and more sustainable trail experience, one that makes access easier for visitors of all abilities while protecting the surrounding landscape.

To allow crews to work safely and efficiently, the northern segment of the Taggart Lake Trail, between the first junction and the Bradley Trail, is currently closed through November 15, 2026. If you're still hoping to explore the area, the Taggart Lake Trailhead and parking lot remain open, and both Taggart and Bradley lakes are reachable via alternate marked trails that add approximately one mile to your route. Cottonwood Creek Picnic Area is also currently open and will remain so through late summer.

We encourage visitors to check current conditions before heading out and to follow all posted signage on the trail. A little extra distance is a small price for trails that will serve hikers for years to come, and the views at Taggart Lake are absolutely worth it.

Thank you for your patience as we work to improve Grand Teton's trails.
