Trail Talk: A look into Grand Teton’s Youth Conservation Program – Week Two

This week the YCP crew embarked on a few large projects in the Two Ocean Lake area. Crew members divided into teams to install log check steps in a heavily eroded area, replace a rotten bridge, and fix a bridge by a stream crossing. Areas were prepped and many logs were peeled amidst the hot sun and swarms of mosquitoes. Although even the strongest of bug spray could not evade these creatures, the crew kept a good attitude and worked hard to make progress on the projects.

Spirits were lightened midweek when the crew took a “break” and hiked 9 miles around the Bradley Lake area to dig drains along the trail to prevent erosion. At the end of this day, the crew enjoyed a meet-and-greet with Foundation donors to the program and consumed some popsicles to cool off. The second week is complete and YCP is off to another great season!
