Snake River Gateways – Moose Landing Update

We're happy to share the latest news and updates from our Snake River Gateways project! In partnership with the park, we have been working hard this fall. Moose Landing has been closed since October 2 while it undergoes significant renovations.

The third phase of Snake River Gateways is currently underway at Moose Landing in Grand Teton National Park. This project will provide visitors with a more enjoyable and convenient experience at this location by offering various new features, such as a two-vehicle boat ramp, boat landings, restrooms, expanded parking areas, bench seating, and interactive displays for people of all abilities.

Starting October 2, the entire Moose Landing area (including the boat ramp) closed to finalize construction and will remain closed until spring of 2024. Our goals this fall are to complete asphalt paving and the installation of the new boat ramp before the snow flies. The entire Snake River Gateways effort is expected to be finished in fall of 2024. While Moose Landing is closed, boaters considering putting in at Deadmans Bar upstream of Moose will not have an available take-out for 37 river miles as Moose Landing and the Wilson Boat Ramp are both closed. Please consider two alternative river floats in the park: Jackson Lake Dam to Pacific Creek Landing and Pacific Creek to Deadmans Bar.

The National Park Service and Grand Teton National Park Foundation are working together to enhance access along the Snake River, and this multiyear project has received tremendous support. The Foundation was able to raise $7.5 million, which was combined with $6.85 million from the National Park Service. This funding has allowed for a level of excellence in the project that would not have been achievable otherwise. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this project a reality! We look forward to the public enjoying the renewed facilities next summer.

Snake River Gateways was initiated in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and the tenth anniversary of the wild and scenic designation of the headwaters of the Snake River. The project's enhancements include improving three access points along the river: Moose Landing, Pacific Creek Landing, which was completed in 2021, and Jackson Lake Dam, which was completed last year.
