The third and final phase of the multiyear Snake River Gateways project is progressing at Moose Landing in Grand Teton National Park. Earlier this year, construction crews completed the new boat launch area, which now has increased capacity for both launching and landing watercrafts. With the new and improved boat ramp fully operational for the summer season, crews are shifting their focus to the construction of a pedestrian plaza and a dedicated boat trailer parking area. The pedestrian plaza will include new bathrooms, shade structures, and interpretive elements to provide visitors with the necessary amenities while they wait for their float trip shuttle. The new boat trailer parking area will increase efficiency and productivity for river guides during the busy summer season.

The National Park Service and Grand Teton National Park Foundation have been working together for the last several years to enhance access along the Snake River, and this multiyear project has received tremendous support. The Foundation was able to raise $7.5 million, which was combined with $6.85 million from the National Park Service. This funding has allowed for a level of excellence in the project that would not have been achievable otherwise. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this project a reality! We look forward to the public enjoying the renewed facilities next summer.

Snake River Gateways was initiated in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and the tenth anniversary of the wild and scenic designation of the headwaters of the Snake River. The project's enhancements include improving three access points along the river: Moose Landing, Pacific Creek Landing, which was completed in 2021, and Jackson Lake Dam, which was completed in 2022. This spring marks the first boating season with all three new concrete boat ramps installed. Visitors have been making good use of the renewed access points at Jackson Lake Dam, Pacific Creek Landing, and Moose Landing with excellent results. We hope you get out on the river this summer to see the improvements!
