NPS Academy Celebrates a Decade of Success

NPSA-group-shot-2020

This month, NPS Academy welcomed its tenth class of future park stewards in Grand Teton. Fifteen new students and two peer mentors gathered to prepare for upcoming internships and explore work opportunities in national parks.

During their week, participants learned about a variety of careers like interpretation, trail work, law enforcement, search and rescue, and fire effects monitoring—including a session with NPS Academy alum Olivia Burke, class of 2018. Park officials and multiple NPSA alumni currently working in Grand Teton interacted with the students throughout the week and shared personal experiences and answered questions. Participants also had the opportunity to go snowshoeing—which was especially meaningful for many who had never seen so much snow!

It was an inspirational week for NPSA attendees and everyone was able to work together to achieve common goals. Friendships were forged and bonds were created. Grand Teton National Park Foundation is pleased to work with our partners in Grand Teton National Park and the American Conservation Experience to provide this exceptional experience for NPSA students. We wish them all the best as they look forward to continuing their paths in the National Park Service.
