Renewing Life at Mormon Row: Enhancing a Historic Landmark

Renewing Life on Mormon Goals

The Mormon Row Historic District is one of the most iconic and historically significant areas in Grand Teton National Park. Known for the John and Bartha Moulton Barn and the T.A. Moulton Barn—widely considered the “most photographed barns in the world”—this treasured landscape attracts thousands of visitors each year who come to experience its cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Grand Teton National Park Foundation is supporting a comprehensive restoration initiative aimed at preserving the historic character of Mormon Row while enhancing visitor safety, access, and education.

The planned improvements include establishing a pedestrian- and bicycle-only zone within the historic district, along with expanded parking to help reduce congestion. New interpretive signs will provide a more thorough and accurate depiction of the community's history and its connection to the park. Efforts to restore native vegetation will help create a more authentic landscape. Additionally, visitor facilities will be upgraded to include new restrooms and an information station. These efforts aim to protect the cultural landscape, enhance safety, and deepen visitors’ connection to the stories of Mormon Row.

Minor work may begin in the summer of 2025, with the majority of improvements scheduled for 2026 or later. Ongoing updates will be shared as the project progresses. Visit the Grand Teton NPS planning webpage to learn more and share your thoughts: www.nps.gov/grte/getinvolved/planning.htm

The Foundation would like to thank everyone who has supported the Mormon Row Initiative so far!
