Jenny Lake Update: What to Expect this Summer

Summer 2018 is the fifth and final major construction season at Jenny Lake. Visitors will continue to enjoy the results of the project on the west side of the lake, including a new Hidden Falls viewing area and reconstructed trails that reflect the aesthetic of the original builders—the Civilian Conservation Corps. On the east shore, visitors will be able to experience a new paved trail to the lake, spectacular new viewpoints, and beginning later this summer, new benches and interpretive exhibits.

The project will ultimately establish an inviting and sustainable trail system, as well as improved wayfinding and accessibility. Visitors will now be able to intuitively find the lakeshore while frontcountry and backcountry areas have been updated to withstand modern visitation levels.

Hidden Falls is open, as is Lower Inspiration Point. Visitors who wish to go beyond Inspiration Point and into Cascade Canyon will need to utilize the north horse trail. All concessionaires and visitor services are open at South Jenny Lake, including the visitor center, Jenny Lake Boating, Exum Mountain Guides, and the general store.

Remember to arrive early or late in the day as visitation to Jenny Lake increases between 9 am and 4 pm. Parking is limited and crowds are expected so make sure to plan ahead. Be safe, go slow, and be aware.

Thank you for your continued patience during renewal efforts at Jenny Lake. We can’t wait for you to see the finished product in summer 2019!
