Trail Talk: A look into Grand Teton’s Youth Conservation Program – Week Four

This week, the YCP crew continued fine tuning their skills at Two Ocean Lake. All of the saddle notches for the larger bridge have been scribed, a tedious technique involving a fragile tool, lots of leveling, and a ton of patience. The crew also hauled mass amounts of crush and fill for the check steps and performed general brushing maintenance in the area.

The team spent Wednesday digging drains in the rain by Hermitage Point, and were rewarded with clouds parting to spectacular mountain views.

On Thursday, the crew brushed and dug drains along Jenny Lake and Inspiration Point. They also received an educational lesson from the Grand Teton Trail Crew on the ins and outs of building rock steps. All in all, this was a fun week of manual labor, variety, and learning!
